Gitadhyanam

OM. Parthaya was enlightened by bhagavan Narayana's self:

by Vyasa, ancient faithful sage, scribed in the middle of the Mahabharata,

Shower of advait nectar, goddess in eighteen chapters,

Mother Gita, I invoke again and again, oh chrysalis of lives becoming.

Namastu, Vyasa of vast intellect, eyes clear and pleasant as full blossoming lotuses,

By you, the oil of the Mahabharata filling the lamp of jnana maya, is lighted.

Onto the wish fulfilling tree of surrendered ones, who holds whip in hand,

and forms the jnana mudra, Krishna, milker of Gita nectar, Namaha.

All upanisads are as cows, the cow herder is Gopalanandanah.

Partho, the calf, enjoys clear mindedly, the milk – the Gita - nectar supreme.

Vasudeva's son, Devam, destroyer of Kamsa and Canura

Devaki's profoundest bliss, Krishna - I pra(y)ise all sentients' guru!

Bhishma and Drona are the banks, Jayadratha the water, Gandhara the blue lily,

Salya the shark, Krpa the speed of the waters, Karna the breakers,

Asvatthama and Vikarna the killer whales, and Duryodhana the whirpools.

Indeed the Pandavas crossed this battle river with the ferryman, Kesavah.

Parasara's son's [=Vyasa's] river of words bore the spotless lotus. Gita its highest fragrance,

The many plots are its stamens, Hari reveals and opens its petals.

All mind(s)ful of truth, as honeybees to nectar, daily drink it happily.

May the lotus, Mahabharata, be for the purifier of the dark ages!

Mutes speak and the lame scale mountains by its Grace.

Pra(y)ise the supreme bless’d dhyanam of the nature of wholeness [=Laksmi]!

Of Him, the gods, Brahma, Varuna, Indra, Rudra, and Marut, sing!

Of Him, chant the vedas in parts (pada krama upanishads) and in whole!

Of Him, yogi's resolved in mind meditate seeing clearly!

Whose limits are beyond surya and asurya, Lord of mine, Namah!
